Councilor may resign, relocate to Cebu

SAYING that he's already fed up with the stench at the City hall, opposition Councilor Zaldy Ocon said he is "seriously considering" a break by resigning as a public official and relocating his media profession elsewhere.

Known for his daily airwave tirades against Mayor Vicente Emano, Ocon said he is dismayed with the way the City Council treated him.

Ocon is "deprived" of committee membership, a secretary, travel allowances, and other special privileges extended to other councilors.

The acerbic councilor said he could still serve the people even if he was no longer a public official.

Ocon said he would decide on April whether or not to accept RMN Network's "lucrative offer" for a managerial post in Cebu.

Should he accept RMN's offer, the councilor said he would miss only one person in Cagayan de Oro -- his erstwhile friend turned-enemy Emano.

"I can't forget him because we had a past," Ocon jested, referring to their friendship before when the mayor was still a regular guest in his radio morning program.

Ocon continued Tuesday his diatribes against the mayor, calling the latter a "thief" and a "bandit," notably the latest in his collection of names for the hizzoner.

He also used the Lumbia Airport bird strike phenomenon to depict the mayor as "a thief who should be captured," rather than errant birds around the airport perimeter.

Emano, meanwhile, said he would not entertain the councilor's name-calling.
