Trial for judge's case might be held in Oro
THE rape case against Regional Trial Court Judge Rexel Pacuribot would not be tried in Gingoog City but in Cagayan de Oro.
The development came following reports that the Gingoog city fiscal has inhibited himself from the case, citing "improper venue" as the reason.
The Gingoog fiscal is familiar with Pacuribot.
Pacuribot allegedly raped 44-year-old stenographer Sherlita Tan in some hotels in Cagayan de Oro.
Earlier, Pacuribot's lawyer Frederico Gapuz said they are now preparing their counter-affidavit against Tan's allegations.
The stenographer reportedly even danced during the judge's birthday party.
Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro failed to contact Tan for comment Wednesday.
Gapuz said they have now gathered several evidence to dispute Tan's claim.
Meanwhile, another court employee is also poised to file rape and lesser sex charges against Pacuribot.
Several women's groups had already voiced their support for Tan.
The judge denied the charges, claiming several court employees are framing him because of his crackdown on them. (Stephen Capillas)
