Yellow trips Parasat, shares lead with Blue
* Red badly needs Rafisura for its redemption bid
BANNERED by the explosive tandem of Jerez Abacahin and Bryan Sabugaa, Yellow handed Cable Parasat of its second-straight defeat while matching Blue's 2-0 start in the 2006 Ballpals Incorporated First Conference inter-color tourney in this city at Pelaez Sports Center.
Yellow's latest triumph was not without thrill but the guest team Parasat almost turned the table in the breathtaking fourth-quarter squabble.
"Pildehonon ang Yellow adto nga dula. Wala lang natuloy-tuloy ang rally sa Parasat," observed Edson Kiunisala of last Saturday's main attraction that was concluded at 7 pm.
"Basta wala lay ulan padayon atong dula kay way kurat ang suga sa sports center," said the club's chairman of the board, Cris Yurong who welcomes Parasat's plea to add at least three additional big men in their next outing.
"Atong i-entertain ilang (Parasat) request nga modugang og dagko kay daghan ilang gagmay unya bisita sab nato sila," said Yurong, who along with Andrew Acaylar and Bombot Padilla, produced a double-digit figures in Blue's convincing conquest of the winless Red.
Red, which has three of the natural shooters in the club in Bobby Diaz, Pinggoy Castro and Urton, however, vowed to arrest their skid in the inter-color tourney's resumption on Saturday.
"Kon makatunga lang karong Sabado si Jiboy Rafisura diha na makita among dula as a team," said Bonggiks Quikoy, referring to the Best Forward awardee of the First Southland inter-club hoopfest at Liceo de Cagayan University gym.
The club's first conference action is a single round-robin event, but the pacesetting Blue won't take the challenge ahead lightly.
"Kinahanglan gyod nga modaug og upat (4 wins) for any team to make it to the crossover round," said Yurong who counts Yellow as the logical threat for Blue's title-retention bid.
"But hopefully naa miy chance nga makaaway sa championship. Focus lang `mi for every game nga among sagubangon," said Jetmark Mercado who steered Green's methodical beating of the Baloy Fernandez and Arvin Martinez-led White the last time around.
Both Green and White have now a similar 1-1 win-loss slate.
