St. Ezekiel caravan arrives in Oro on June 5 By Abigail Chee Kee-Malalis
A PILGRIMAGE and caravan of the relics of St. Ezekiel Moreno, a Spanish friar who became patron saint of the sick and cancer patients, will arrive in Cagayan de Oro on June 5.
Rev. Ferdinand Hernando will hold a mass and healing of the sick and cancer patients in San Antonio de Padua Chruch in Nazareth this city on June 5 at around 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The relics of St. Ezekiel Moreno will arrive from Cebu at 5:00 in the morning followed by a procession/motorcade of his statue from Pier to San Antonio de Padua Parish. Prayers and viewing of St. Ezekiel Moreno's relics will be from 7 to 8 a.m.
St. Ezekiel Moreno was born with parents Felix Moreno and Josefa Maria Diaz in Alfaro La Rioja in Spain on April 9, 1848. He professed the religious vows in the Order of Augustinian Recollects on Sept. 22, 1865. He arrived in Manila on Feb. 10, 1870 after a strenuous four-month marine voyage. He proceeded to San Nicolas church in Intramuros, Manila and finished his last year of theological formation in Intramuros.
St. Ezekiel died of cancer of the palate, which also affected his nose and throat on Aug. 19, 1906. On November 1, 1975 Pope Paul VI beatified Ezekiel Moreno at St. Peter's Square in Rome during the Holy Year of 1975.
Everbody is invited to witness the healing and be healed on June 5 at San Antonio de Padua Parish in Nazareth this city.
