ILIGAN CITY -- A bomb exploded near the concrete fence of Global Steelworks plant on Monday but no one was hurt and no damaged caused, police said.

Inspector Emmanuel Macabecha, station chief of the Iligan City Police Station 2, said the "bomb" which was hurled over the concrete fence of Global Steelworks plant by still unidentified persons did not cause a loud explosion and did not hurt anyone or cause damage.

However, some splinters hit the glass wall of the entrance of the plant's administration building and pierced some holes, the police said.

The police are still determining what type of bomb or explosive was used in the explosion and pieces of evidence found were brought to the police crime laboratory in Cagayan de Oro for examination.

Macabecha said there is no cause for alarm and theorized the "bombing" could be the handiwork of some pranksters or disgruntled people. The police are still investigating the case.

Last year a similar "bombing" occurred at the parking lot of the steel plant across its administration building. No one was hurt but the explosion of a small home made bomb caused partial discoloration to the paint a parked car.
