Oro adventure teams rule 2nd CDO adventure race

TEAM Hangak of Cagayan de Oro bested nine other teams from Iligan, Marawi and Cagayan de Oro enduring 10 hours and 10 minutes of the 12-hour race to win as overall champion in the just concluded 2nd Cagayan de Oro Adventure Race.

Trailing behind Team Hangak is Team Cagayan de Oro Whitewater Rafting, which completed the race in 10 hours and 40 minutes, leading Team Kamot, another Cagayan de Oro Adventure team who placed third after completing the race in 10 hours and 54 minutes.

As champion, Team Hangak received a cash prize of P10,000 plus individual medals for the three team members while Team Cagayan de Oro Whitewater Rafting bagged P5,000 cash plus medals and Team Kamot went home with P3,000 plus medals.

Team Tomiyara of Marawi City, teams Kokie Simon, Simon A, and Mic Charlie, all of Iligan City and local race teams Utbak, Blouw Medix and Tabangonon also received assorted goods from the Department of Tourism 10 as race finishers.

The 2nd Cagayan de Oro Adventure Race is a 12-hour sun-up to sun-down mountain bike orienteering competition that took adventure sports enthusiasts to breathtaking eco-tourism destinations, adventure activities, festive sites, historical places, and landmark places in the city.

The activity was aimed at promoting the city as the Adventure Capital of the Philippines, showcasing the city's best products, food and destinations, as well as encouraging Cagayanons to get actively involved in adventure sports.

The 2nd Cagayan de Oro Adventure Race was presented by Columbia Sportswear Company (official apparel), Cagayan de Oro Whitewater Rafting Adventure and City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Department of Tourism 10, Converse, Park CafAc, and Images.

Major sponsors of the race were Limketkai Mall, Bigby's Negros Navigation, Philcom, San Miguel Beer, Nestle, Perfect Line Fitness Center for Men and Women and Habagat.

Minor sponsors were Nature's Spring Drinking Water, Bohemian Express Travel, Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, Maxi's Restobar, Dunkin Donuts, The Site, Isla Bonita Bar, Chali Beach Resort, Alwana Business Park and JETTI.
Media partners were STI College (official tabulator, Sandy 101 FM, Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro and Parasat Cable TV.

The race was organized by the CDO Outfitters Inc., Viajero Outdoor Centre, and Sinkhole Inc. (CIO)
