By Richel V. Umel

KAPATAGAN, Lanao del Norte -- Even with the impeachment moves against her, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo went ahead with business by leading the inauguration of the P31 million municipal building here.

The inauguration attended by Kapatagan Mayor Benny Baguio, Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte Second District Representative Abdullah D. Dimaporo and other provincial and municipal officials.

The two storey building is financed through a P20.070 million loan procured by Malacañang through the Asian Development Bank with counterpart funding from Kapatagan worth P5.109 million and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) worth P5 million.

The inauguration coincides with the celebration of Lanao del Norte's 47th Charter day and the "Pasundayag" festival celebrated in the province and its sister local government units (LGUs) throughout Northern Mindanao.

In line with this Arroyo distributed 127 Certificates of Land Ownership Agreement (CLOA) to 190 farmer beneficiaries covering 323.86 hectares in 10 municipalities under the supervision of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) at the Mindanao Civic Center, in Sagadan, Tubod, the province capital town.

Aside from the CLOA distribution, President Arroyo handed over certificates to three municipalities of Bacolod, Linamon and Baroy as pilot areas for "Tindahan Nato" program.

This is a community sari-sari store for the barangays through the Department of Social Services and Development (DSWD). Arroyo was recognized earlier as the Bai Lawanen (daughter) of Lanao del Norte.

Governor Dimaporo and Representative Dimaporo expressed gratitude to the Arroyo for the projects, which are seen to help in developing the province.

Other government projects for the province include the completion of the Iligan Aurora Road project, Sultan Naga Dimaporo-Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur concreting project; Tagoloan-Baloi road concreting project, the rural electrification program between the provincial government and Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative Inc., Metro Iligan Regional Infrastructure Development Project, health and social services, Kalahi programs and others.
