16 ladies vie for Ms. Cagayan de Oro '06 crown

A TOTAL of 16 beautiful ladies representing the various barangays of the city will vie for the 2006 edition of the annual search for Miss Cagayan de Oro.

After three screenings, the Cagayan de Oro City Tourism Board, which initiates the pageant, announced the 16 official candidates in the Search for Miss Cagayan de Oro 2006.

They are: Kathrina Manansala (Canitoan), Jedyl Jamaca (Bulua), Irish Azcuna (Macasandig), Wendie Olape (Kauswagan), Maria Melody Anne Nadal (Kauswagan), Lenore Maña (Barangay 40), Marie Christine Miñoza (Patag), Vanessa Namoc (Carmen), Bianca May dela Cruz (Barangay 10), Rosalie Roxas (Lapasan), Rachele Joy Galang (kauswagan), Armi Jane Bacabis (Barangay 22), Jedneth Macas (Lapasan), Rosa Lyn Jumalon (Carmen), Jeremy Cisneros (Camaman-an), and Tatum Salcedo of Barangay Nazareth.

From the many aspirants who joined the three screening schedules, the 16 official candidates stood out and they each has the chance to be crowned this year's Miss Cagayan de Oro.

In preparation for the series of official activities that they will participate in as part of the competition, the official candidates underwent an orientation over the weekend.

The ladies will be formally presented to the press on August 12 at Kagay-an Resort. This will be followed by the Talent Night on August 17 at the SM City and the Swimsuit Competition and Sponsors' Night at Hotel Koresco on August 19.

The schedule of the pageant night will be announced later.

The lucky lady who will be crowned Miss Cagayan de Oro will receive a cash prize of P50,000; while the Miss Tourism Cagayan de Oro will receive P30,000; the Musa sa Mga Barangay will receive P20,000; the Musa sa Panaghi-usa will receive P15,000; and the Musa sa Kalinaw will receive P10,000.

The reigning Miss Cagayan de Oro will serve as the city's ambassadress of goodwill and will help promote the city's tourism potentials for the duration of her reign. (City Information Office)
