This is the latest offering by Oro Sabado Club, a compact community theatre in Cagayan de Oro that engages independent thespians from diverse backgrounds for their continuous productions.

This theater group is composed of the following theatre personalities: Edgar Villaranda, an SSS employee; Tatit Fajardo, a businesswoman and barangay kagawad; and Ametta Suarez-Taguchi, a home economics teacher. They hope to sustain theatre experiencing in the city as an alternative form of entertainment.

For this production, they have engaged Enrico Lluch to direct three of the four monologues and the skit. One monologue is directed by Ametta Suarez-Taguchi, the playwright herself. The cast is composed of, in order of appearance, Bernard Naval alternating with Christian Arruiza as Elija, Patricia Gabriel alternating with Kaye Rillera as Kristine, Tatit Fajardo as Andrea/Lita, Edgar Villaranda as Stanislavsky, and in the skit PO2 Noel Perpetua as Roger.

Mr. Lluch has directed three of Mrs. Taguchi's numerous scripts, and has brought these professional productions on long runs, between sixteen to twenty eight performances. As with the other two Taguchi plays he directed, this latest project has thus far provided him fulfillment as well as fun and entertainment even at rehearsal phase, mainly because of the script's fresh and direct language.

All the characters and their plots and sub-plots are based on real stories of real people. Proper names were changed to protect their privacy. This satirical-comic revue is very contemporary and accessible yet the theme nearly touches on theology and philosophy of life. It is definitely hilarious yet real and serious at the same time.

The title "Mga Eksena sa Kama" may sound provocative on the first note, but the pun with words by the playwright in choosing the title refers to the bed as a symbol of bare reality. It is in the bedroom that one naturally drops pretenses or opts to continue them. The bed is like a witness to life. It is where one crashes to drown tears, it can also be where couples make love, or gets nurtured to regain lost health or where a mother gives birth or where one dies. It is a stage for laughter, for prayer, for confessions, desolations and revolves. Whatever the bed is for you, watching the play can be a catharsis for your own good.
