Milo Run listing now in full swing

ONCE again, the country's longest running road race, the 30th Milo National Marathon, will kick off its regional elimination here on Sept. 17.

Local event coordinator Megdonio Llamera said the 21-kilometer qualifying race will determine the three fastest male and female runners who will represent Northern Mindanao in the national finals on Dec. 10 in Manila.

Llamera said that while the regional elimination is open to competitive runners aged 18 years old and above, those who have participated in other regional eliminations and were among the top 10 winners are no longer qualified to participate in the regional level. And while there could only be about 200 entries in the premier event for both male and female divisions, Llamera expects no less than 10,000 registrants for the 5K fun run as well as in the 3K kiddies run for 12 years old and below.

Last year, there were more than 11,000 who answered the starting gun for the 21K, 5K and 3K race categories, many of them are school-based runners.

Registration is now in full swing at the event Secretariat located at the ground floor of Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center. Deadline for submission of entries is September 15.

Llamera said registrants who could bring 300-gram of Milo labels will be assessed with minimal fees: P30 in the 3K, P40 in P5K and P100 for 21K. (Press release)
