Mini-public market in Canitoan in the offing

A MINI-public market will soon be constructed by the local government of Cagayan de Oro at the city-owned 63-hectare resettlement and housing project at Sitio Calaanan in Barangay Canitoan.

City Mayor Vicente Emano made this assurance to the residents at the relocation area during the formal groundbreaking and capsule laying rites for the establishment of the one-hectare housing project for 100 non-commissioned local police officers recently.

Emano said he will pursue the construction of the mini-public market at the earliest possible time as soon as the project's program of work is completed.

The assurance of Emano came after officers of the Cagayan de Oro Resettlement and Housing Project 1 Homeowners Association, led by its president Roberto Abacahin, brought their request to the city mayor's attention during his visit to the area.

Aside from the mini-public market project, Emano at the same time approved the residents' request for water connection citing that potable water supply is a basic need for everybody.

It may be recalled that Emano also bared recently the construction of two mini-public markets along the South Diversion Road in Upper Macasandig and in Barangay Balulang.

The city mayor stressed that the establishment of these "satellite public markets" will not only boost the economic activities on these areas but also aimed at providing convenience to the residents who want to buy fresh market goods.

These mini-public markets will also complement with the city government's efforts to develop new growth areas that are located away from the urban center of Cagayan de Oro, Emano concluded. (CIO)
