TANDAG, Surigao del Sur -- Surigao del Sur police said they are closing in on the suspects in the killing of spiritual leader Dionisio Estrada Gingging, forming a dragnet to avoid their escape.
"We already identified the suspects but we cannot divulge identities to media right now for obvious reasons," Caraga OIC Provincial Director Alex Ga said.
Gingging's widow, Milagros, said they are waiting for her late husband's relatives to arrive for his burial scheduled October 17.
The Iglesia Filipiniana Independiente (IFI) in Cagayan de Oro said the mass and prayer rally will be held Thursday.
The mass is scheduled past 12 noon at the Pabayo-Hayes Street while the prayer rally will be held at the City Kiosk around 1 p.m.
Milagros said she was out of their home when the incident occurred.
Gingging's mother, Filomena, said her son is a good man, kind, and helpful to others.
Members of Gingging's spiritual group, most of whom are former Catholics, IFI, and other religious denominations formed another group called "Church of the Body Christ World Mission (CBCWM)."
Fr. Gingging now lies in state at the family residence in Purok Sunkist, Barangay Bajao, Tago, Surigao del Sur.
The group said they wanted an investigation on the dealings Fr. Guingguing have entered into lately like the transaction of his four hectares "falcata plantations" in Barangay Mapili also in Tago town.
Various religious denominations in Surigao del Sur denounced Fr. Gingging's killing.
Fr. Guinguing was stabbed and shot to death by three unidentified perpetrators while on his way to visit his piggery located one kilometer away from his house also at Barangay Bajao, Tago, Surigao del Sur.
