*Overpowering Lanao Norte, 79-56 at their rival's home turf
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte--Holcim Pryce Pharma-MisOr maintained its clean slate with their third straight win Friday (Oct. 13) at the expense of Lanao del Norte, 79-56 at the ML Kwarta Padala Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) Second Conference at the Mindanao Civic Center.
Nursing a slim one-point lead after the first quarter, do-it-all Misamis Oriental forward Mark Apepe came off the bench to scatter 11 points and blow the game wide open by halftime for the wards of MVBA Chairman Governor Oscar S. Moreno and Coach Rex Salvaña, 43-34.
Misamis Oriental's defense then went to work limiting Lanao del Norte to only seven points in the third canto to peg the count at 63-41 entering the final period.
The lead ballooned to as much as 25 early in the fourth quarter, 71-46 sending the team of Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo and Coach Chris Pontillas skidding to their third defeat in as many games in the league supported by ML Kwarta Padala and also by Nature's Spring Drinking Water, Cokaliong Shipping Lines, Reva Sandals, Gameface.Ph and Nike Basketball.
Apepe went on to finish with 13 points while four of his teammates added eight points each in Gilbert Demape, Jerome Numeran, Nick Jabagat and Jesson Alfeche in another balanced attack.
Baltazar Jueves topped Lanao del Norte with 10 markers and 11 rebounds followed by younger brother Arlo Jueves and Kent Joemar Senining with eight each.
MVBA action resumes on Oct. 19 (Thursday) with the MP Warriors-GenSan of Manny Pacquiao hosting the Iligan Archangels of Mayor Lawrence L. Cruz at the Almendras Gym in Davao City.
Both teams are tied in the middle of the standings with even 1-1 win-loss cards.
