Agency cites P624-M infrastructure for N. Mindanao

AROUND P624 million have been allocated for Northern Mindanao under the Regular Infrastructure Program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for 2005.

"The program actually consisted of 352 projects for implementation of locally funded and foreign assisted roads and bridges which form the backbone of the regional highway network," said Regional Director Sinaolan Macarambon of DPWH-Northern Mindanao said.

She said 83 of these projects were completed, 77 are ongoing while 191 are not yet started, as of December 31, 2005, bringing the overall accomplishment to 28.94 percent due to delays in the releases of cash.

The engineering districts that implemented the projects, their amounts and the number of those completed are distributed as follows: Bukidnon, I, P1.8M, six projects, Bukidnon II, P3.457M, 12 projects and Bukidnon III, P2M, one project.

Camiguin, P6M, four projects, Misamis Occidental, P10.7M, six projects, Misamis Oriental I, P7.8M, 19 projects and Cagayan de Oro City, P500,000, one project.

Lanao del Norte I, P7.037 million, two projects, Lanao del Norte II, P14.2 million, 28 projects, Regional Office, P22.799M, one project and Regional Project Monitoring Office (RPMO), P12.5 million, three projects.

Macarambon said DPWH took the lead in implementing the construction of various farm to market roads, water supply, river control structures, school buildings for elementary and secondary levels and all other projects amounting to P55.751M.

"Funds for these projects have been sourced out from various agencies like the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, and Department of Education with the objective of improving the lives of the people and uplifting their economic and social well-being," she added. (Trends)
