Demape lifts Misor via buzzer beater
FORMER pro Gilbert Demape sank a triple with no time on the clock to lift Holcim Pryce Pharma-MisOr over the MP Warriors-GenSan, 72-69, in a thriller of a game in the ML Kwarta Padala Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) Second Conference Tuesday night at the packed Xavier University gym.
With the scored tied and 21 seconds for one last play, Demape first missed from left quarter court but teammate Franklin Nailon grabbed the offensive rebound and quickly gave the ball back to the cutting Demape for the winning shot from right quarter court sending the huge crowd rushing onto the court in jubilation.
"We never give up. That's the magic words," said Mark Apepe, the bulky gunner who also stepped up in the decisive half.
The win was the second in as many games for the team of MVBA Chairman Governor Oscar S. Moreno and Coach Rex Salvaña.
The Warriors of boxing champion Manny Pacquiao and Coach Ramon Pido dropped their debut contest and was playing expansion team Lanao del Norte of Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo at press time last night (Oct. 11) at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod.
