THE city is anticipating with excitement of the coming of The APO Hiking Society in a big revival concert on February 23, 2007 at 8 p.m. at the Atrium of Limketkai Center. These musicians cum entertainers extraordinaire are set to perform live for the North Mindanao audience.
According to their Executive Producer Vince Abad Santos of Full Swing Events Manila, the APO has made 22 record albums, hosted several television shows including their own noontime Sunday show "Sa Linggo nAPO Sila" and launched hugely successful major solo concerts and countless provincial, dinner and corporate shows.
In the last three decades, the APO has performed in over 50 cities in the United States, in Canada, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Japan to bring Original Pilipino Music to Filipinos worldwide. Now the residents of Northern Mindanao will have the rare chance to watch them live as they belt out their music that has brought them fame and accolades from the music industry worldwide.
The music of The APO has spanned several generations for their universal appeal and strong messages. Their revival album has topped the local charts in no time at all. Abad Santos added that many of their songs have been remade by popular local bands with equal zeal and acceptance. Tagged as the founder of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM), The APO became the first Filipino pop artists to perform at the Main Theater of New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. They also performed at the equally prestigious Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada's musical capital.
