Tuesday, January 30, 2007 MisOr team drubs M. Lhuillier, 85-80
LAST Saturday, host Holcim Pryce Pharma-MisOr also carved an impressive 85-80 victory over reigning back-to-back Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) champion M.Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City in the second day of the MVBA Governor Oscar Moreno Cup.
The game lived up to its billing as a rematch of the last conference's finale won by M. Lhuillier. MisOr controlled majority of the contest but could not stage a breakaway.
M. Lhuillier constantly stayed within striking distance, threatening for the last time on a triple by Jett Latonio with 11 seconds to play, 80-82. Woodrow Enriquez then fouled Mark Ababon, who could only split his charities for an 83-80 tally and nine seconds to play. M. Lhuillier flubbed a chance to equalize as they threw away the ball in the ensuing play. Lowell Briones then settled the final score with two charities.
Anton Viloria again led MisOr with 12 points while the trio of Ababon, Briones and Frank Nailon contributed 11 points each as MisOr stayed undefeated in two games. MisOr team leader Gilbert Demape injured his foot the other day and is doubtful to return into action. Enriquez topped M. Lhuillier with 24 markers followed by Latonio with 15 and Stephen Padilla with 14.
