Saturday, February 10, 2007 Ballpals officials set to confer Saturday By Lynde Salgados
OFFICIALS of the trouble-plagued Ballpals Incorporated will meet here this afternoon at the Palaro Center's Sports Cafe to finalize its resolution for the club's 2007 election.
Among those expected to join outgoing president Crisanto "Johnny A" Yurong during the 6 p.m. gathering are past presidents Dandan Guevarra, JP Pabillore, Menandro Paasa, Pinggoy Castro and Nanni Palacio as well as the Sec-affiliated club's board of directors and incorporators headed by future Sugbongcogon Mayor Roldan Lagbas.
"Tentative pa na'ng February 17 nga schedule sa election kay mag-meeting pa ugma aron mabuhatan og resolution ang maong activity. Kinahanglan man gud nga ma put into record atong importante nga mga kalihokan now that we're already registered with the Security Exchange Commission," Yurong told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
The city's most popular ballclub which struggles for over a decade now in mainstream basketball used to hold its annual election at the end of the year.
But a seemingly endless feuding among the warring officials and their supporters apparently left Ballpals without even celebrating its traditional Christmas party last December.
"As one of the club's incorporators, I would like to encourage all the concerned members to actively participate in our forthcoming election aron maplastar na ang tanan ug maka-move on na `ta. Kita ra gihapon tanan ang ma-torture kon dili maputol ang bolabog nga sitwasyon sa atong club," Lagbas said.
Meanwhile, around 20 players are set to join the fledgling Club 92 over at Macasandig covered court. These include the towering pair of Oliver Velasco and John Montalvan and the fancied Biongcog brothers (Boning and Buchok).
"Patsada sab nga madugang sila para mas competitive pa atong inter-color," said the most-after-sought pointguard, Sylvon Deña.
Anton Pabillore, the acknowledged backbone of Club 92's fast development, however, warned that newcomers could only play in the inter-color event after completing at least three ball sessions in their regular pick up games every Tuesday and Thursday (7 to 10 pm).
