Editorial: Exploiting the UN report

THE United Nations (UN) report about the human rights violations committed by the military, done in a span of a few days and with interviews mostly conducted with militant leftist groups who showed the UN rep some photos and so-called findings, glossed over the abuses committed by the communist New People's Army (NPA) and their political and legal fronts the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF).

This glossing over, or utter disregard caused the national government to release a video done more than two decades ago, showing CPP-NDF-NPA chairman and founder Jose Maria Sison clearly identifying some prominent militant groups as being under their banner during an international meeting that curiously wasn't recorded by Sison's underlings or his comrades in arms.

Pinoy Votes: Sun.Star Election 2007

Sison's vehement denial of the charge and his continued ranting over the human rights abuses of the national government as he always does to previous past regimes only shows the manipulation and utter deviousness he and his kind employ in order to advance their ideological and political agenda of wresting power either through deception of the Filipino people or outright force.

This play for publicity and propaganda reared its ugly head anew with claims that a top CPP-NDF-NPA official was supposedly kidnapped in Cagayan de Oro by some law enforcement agents.

Set amid the backdrop of the swirl of controversy they've stirred up with the UN report, the communists are now demanding the release of this official, saying he is a consultant of the peace process.

A peace process, they conveniently forgot, which they rejected outright until the Arroyo administration is displaced by another friendlier administration which they can manage to manipulate with their lies, deceit and greed for power which they mask as being for (their) people.

Lest they forgot, the national government cut off the peace process first owing to the back-stabbing they received from these communist rebels who supposedly continued to wage violence while demanding that the national government submit to their will and serve them hand and foot while they list their demands in an effort to subjugate them and using international law to boost whatever remains of their pathetic stature.

If the official is arrested then by all means have him surfaced by the authorities but these communists should also be made to account for the killings they inflicted on their former comrades who saw through their lies and renounced their bankrupt and hopeless misguided ideology.
