Wednesday, May 30, 2007 Oro drag racers off to national tilt
A TOUGHER field of excitement and competition awaits the Cebuano drag racers in the 5th Mayor Tomas Osmeña Cup National Drag Race Competition on June 10 to 12 at the South Reclamation Properties in Cebu City.
But unlike the previous races at the SRP, organizers are providing a "window" where motorists may pass while the race is ongoing.
"Because we are being criticized in the past (races) when we have to close the SRP for the entire two days that we use it, this time we will provide "window" for other motorists to pass. Our only concern is that they should also respect us while the road is open for public use," said Neil Labrador during the press conference called Tuesday at Sunburst Restaurant.
Schedule
The SRP will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on race days.
Cebuano racers led by Class A division three-time champion Peterson Lim of Team Hilton-K1, the winner of the best reaction time of perfect point five, is going to race for his fourth title.
"I have already prepared my car and hopefully no engine trouble that would deny me my fourth Class A title," Lim told Sun.Star Cebu.
Lim rode his Honda Hatchback car to a record 12.1 seconds in his third title last October.
