Monday, August 27, 2007 Oro riders rule horseshow tourney
EXPERT and novice riders from Cagayan de Oro City dominated the 4th Leg of the Philippine Horsemen Federation's National Horseshow and Competition held over the weekend at the sprawling Fil-Estate grounds in Barangay Gusa this city.
Riders from Cagayan de Oro City displayed their class, poise and supremacy in the three-event competition (barrel, obstacle and oval race) after bagging 8-8-2 first place, second place and third place finish, Bobby Cabrera, Vice President of Kagayan de Oro Horsemen Association said.
Fancied and highly-touted bets from Malaybalay and Impasug-ong in the neighboring province of Bukidnon wound-up with 6-4-4 and 2-2-3 first, second and third place finish, respectively. Davao riders took home with 1-1-4, Cebu and Manila with identical 1-1 second and third place finish and 1 third place finish from a lone American rider.
A total of 91 riders took part in the two-day horse riding competition that was witnessed by an estimated 1,000 appreciative crowd, Cabrera added.
The national horseshow competition graced by Mayor Constantino Jaraula is one of the activities lined up to highlight the Kagay-an Festival 2007.
