Food, travel expo projected to hit P15M sales

WITH the 15,000 trade and other visitors expected to do business or simply view the projected 100 exhibits at the Southland Food, Travel and Hospitality Exposition or SouthFoodEx 2007 scheduled from November 15 to 17, organizers expect exhibitors to generate P15 million sales in cash and reservation sales.

The signature food, travel and hospitality trade event of Cagayan de Oro will be held at the Atrium of the LimKetKai Center.

SouthFoodEx chairman Marriz Manuel B. Agbon, president and CEO of Agbon Management Consultancy Services (AMCS), said he based his projections on the increasing number of exhibitors and visitors participating in the activity since 2004, when the event was first introduced as the Mindanao Food and Hotel Exhibition of MinFHEx.

To further expand its reach to cover not only Mindanao but also central Philippines, the organizers upgraded to the present SouthFoodEx.

In 2004, this signature Cagayan de Oro trade event for food and travel opened its maiden edition and immediately attracted 52 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors.

By 2006, 80 exhibitors joined SouthFoodEx. In 2005, the exhibitors went home with P6.7 million in cash and booked sales. In 2006, Agbon said the exhibitors were not disappointed closing the event with a record 11 million in sales.

SouthFoodEx has attracted some 35,000 visitors to its booths, seminars, and product presentations over the past three years.

Agbon disclosed that several innovations have been introduced into SouthFoodEx this year. Organizers have received confirmations from exhibitors even after only the first wave of invitations to participate.

As the veritable icing on the cake, this year's SouthFoodEx returns in tandem with the Property and Home Show 2007.

Property developers, real estate companies and agents, real estate loan financiers, architects, interior designers and home furnishing suppliers will showcase their projects, products, and services in this event. Exciting financing options will be unveiled during the Property and Home Show 2007.

Interested parties wishing to book this early to avail of big discounts are advised to contact Anna Marie J. Medes, SouthFoodEx/Property and Home Show 2007 project director and Southland Events Inc.
