US delegates to visit Oro expo

CITY Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula expressed optimism that the coming visit of a key official of the US Embassy and other American investors here in Cagayan de Oro this week will boost the city's image as a leading investment and tourism destination in the country.

During the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall Monday morning, Mayor Jaraula disclosed that Deputy Chief of Mission Paul Jones of the US Embassy in Manila is arriving Wednesday this week, to attend the Cagayan de Oro Business Enterprises, Services and Trade Exposition or Oro BEST Expo 2007.

According to Jaraula, Jones will be joined by 15 other investors from the US who will visit the city to explore possible areas of business partnerships with local businessmen in Cagayan de Oro and the Northern Mindanao region.

The mayor pointed out that the upcoming visit of US guests will surely send a positive signal to the global community on Cagayan de Oro's image as a safe and peaceful place to visit in this part of Mindanao.

This, amidst reported travel advisories made by the Australian and British governments, warning their respective citizens not to come to Mindanao for security reasons.

Particularly, the American guests will be participating in the Oro BEST Expo's Cocktails for USA exhibitors and partners on October 17 and the Doing Business with the USA forum on October 18 where 50 American companies are expected to participate in the exhibit.

The three-day exposition set October 17 to 19, is sponsored by the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber). (Press release)
