Culinary activities from October to December
By Ed Dychauco
Pots & Pans

AFTER my food trips to Baguio (Chefs on Parade) and Davao (Mindanao Culinary Festival) a few weeks ago, I am now back in Cagayan de Oro City preparing for my culinary classes, a Cake Decorating Competition (sponsored by Peotraco Industries), our participation for the forthcoming Southland Food, Travel, & Hospitality Exposition (SouthFoodEx '07) and a grand Christmas Bazaar at Robinson's...doesn't sound busy, right?

Christmas is just around the corner and I have been asked so many times when I would come out with my culinary classes. Most of my inquiries were for cooking and baking.

Updates on the Kagay-an Festival 2007

They all wanted to learn how to cook and bake specially for this yuletide season, either for their own consumption or as gift giving to friends and relatives. But a lot of them wanted to invest their time in small businesses where food will be their "main or side" line.

I am glad everyone is now making use of their "entrepreneurship" skills. And not only that, they are able to bring out their innate talents in the art of cooking and baking as well! And as promised, I already have my Culinary Classes schedule at my shop. Classes include cake baking, cookies, bars, cupcakes, cake decorating, pastries, Pinoy, Chinese, pasta dishes, and many others.

Special classes can also be arranged. Feel free to drop by to get a copy of my culinary class schedule.

We would be joining Southfoodex'07, and when I say we, it means my shop and Peotraco Industries, a nationally respected baking and cake decorating ingredients manufacturer and producer. I have been using Peotraco quality products since we started Pots & Pans way back in 1976. And this time, with the blessings of the owner, Ms. Mary Kaw, I was able to convince her to conduct a "Peotraco Fondant Cake Decorating Competition" this November 15, 2007.

This competition is open to students, homemakers, cake makers and professionals and is divided into two categories (students & professionals). Theme for the said contest is "Christmas" and all ingredients will be provided by Peotraco Industries (powdered sugar, glucose, glycerine, cornstarch, gummix, coloring & décor sugar). Shortening will be provided by Marca Leon.

Fabulous prizes will be given to the top 3 winners and consolation prizes to the other participants. So, in behalf of Peotraco Industries, I would like to call on interested participants to join and be part of this very first and exciting contest.

For more details of the said contest, visit or call Pots & Pans at Don Apolinar Velez St., with telephone # 858-4209 or 724-674. Email at potsnpans1976@yahoo.com

Being also a member of Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao, we will also play an active role during SouthFoodEx '07 on November 15-17, 2007.

Aside from the booth where we will showcase our products, I will also be doing a delicious culinary demonstration highlighting quality products from our active members. There will be a lot of food tasting and sampling, as usual especially now that we have more members involved in our organization.

Prizes will also be given away to lucky participants. This is one activity that shouldn't be missed! Not only am I going to do cooking and baking, but I would also give a lot of valuable tips on how and what to give this Christmas season for your loved ones.

As part of our annual Christmas treat to the public, the food processors associaiton will have a Christmas Bazaar at Robinson's from December 6-23, 2007. Instead of going to separate stores and shops, our association will again promote our delicious and sought-after goodies like meat and baked products for the holiday season in one place and at affordable prices at that. Call it a one-stop shop!

With all these activities on hand, I am sure everybody will be busy and enjoying the holidays, even months before Christmas!
