Milo Olympics gets underway Friday

ITS all systems go for the biggest island-wide sporting event -- the 2007 Milo Little Olympics Mindanao!

More than 5,000 young athletes from all over Mindanao, representing their respective elementary and secondary schools, both public and private, converge here Friday afternoon at the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center.

Updates on the Kagay-an Festival 2007

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula and Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar S. Moreno will deliver their respective messages, according to Milo Little Olympics Mindanao area organizer Megdonio R. Llamera.

Department of Education Regional Director Dr. Estrella Abid Babano, chairperson of the two-weekend meet's executive committee, will have the honor of declaring the 11th edition of the multifarious meet here officially opened.

Also, Nestle Philippines assistant vice president and Milo Brand Manager Michelle Calo-Alvarillo will deliver a message on behalf of the sponsoring Milo.

Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Vigitt B. Magtoltol will lead the oath of amateurism while lawn tennis expert Joseph Abella will lead in reciting the officiating officials' pledge.

Among the highlights of the opening ceremonies will be the parade of delegations from provincial capitol grounds and the entrance of colors at the sports center, lighting of the flame and friendship urn, and the hoisting of the banners of the Milo Little Olympics, Department of Education, Philippine Olympic Committee, and that of the participating schools, the violin exhibition of Michael Auxilio who is acclaimed as a music wizard, and finally the breath-taking and colorful cheer dance competition.
