In radio interviews, the police identified the suspect as Daryl Tion, a resident of Zone 4, Barangay Agusan and is said to be a welder at one of the companies operating in Cagayan de Oro.

Tion held up the passenger jeepney as it passed by Barangay Tablon this city.

Unknown to Tion, two of the police officers, one of whom was Ricky Rodriguez, were in plainclothes and passengers of the jeepney when the robbery took place.

The two were armed and told Tion to give up. He responded by jumping off from the jeepney and fleeing the site.

The police officers pursued him and managed to shoot him when he resisted arrest.

His remains were delivered to the Somo funeral parlor where his live-in partner, Jocelyn Posadas, positively identified him.

Posadas told local radio that Tion was supposed to give her his salary last Friday but when he failed to show up, she then went to the company and collected his salary.

The suspect met with some friends and drank with them prior to the robbery.
