Woman hangs self at home
By Stephen Capillas

A 38-YEAR-old woman ended her life by hanging herself at her home in Zone-8, Barangay Cugman late Sunday evening.

According to the Cugman police precinct, the victim identified as Thelma Puentebella had just suffered a cancer-causing disease and was worried sick about her wayward child.

In a radio interview, her live-in partner Eugene Puentebella recounted that she was usually despondent and discreetly talked with her son behind his back.

"I told him to get out of the house after he was accused of stealing and he had been in and out of jail since. My 22-year-old son had been selling these stolen items to our neighbors to our embarrassment," the father said.

The live-in partner said he had not heard from his son since but learned from his neighbors that his son usually talked with his mother, who advised him to mend his ways to no avail.

This was confirmed by one of the woman's neighbors who requested anonymity. She said Thelma sustained a cyst, which she was operated on, but she still suffered from a heart ailment and high blood pressure.

"She usually had no one to talk to at her house and she often sought our company," the neighbor said.

A written note was found near the kitchen area where she supposedly committed suicide, stating that she wants her remains to be immediately disposed of. She also expressed her love to her son.
