SM City hosts Halad Sa Pasko

THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro in cooperation with SM City is set to hold the annual Halad sa Pasko 2007-Bangga sa Daygon and Indigay sa Parol at SM City Activity Center on December 21, 2007, 4 p.m.

City tourism officer designate, Imma Rae Gatuslao, said this year's prizes at stake for the winners in both choral and lantern contests are bigger.

The first prize winner of the Bangga sa Daygon will receive a cash prize of P25,000, while the second and third prize winners will receive P20,000 and P12,000.00, respectively.

A consolation prize of P2,000 will be given to the non-winning participants.
While the first prize winner of Indigay sa Parol will go home with a cash prize of P17,000; second prize winner with P12,000; third prize winner with P6,000 and consolation prizes of P1,000 to all the non-winning participants, Gatuslao added.

The criteria for judging in the first event consists of 40 percent for Voice (tonal quality, blending and discipline); 15 percent for Rhythm (timing and precision); 20 percent for Choreography (creativity, formation, grace, artistry and fluidity of movements); 15 percent Diction (pronunciation, clarity of words and coordination) and 10 percent for Costume (relevance to the theme/concept choice of color, style and accessories).

The criteria for the Indigay sa Parol includes: 30 percent for Artistry (over-all appearance of the Christmas lantern which includes creativity, attractiveness and harmony of materials, including the lights.

Choice of color and kind of lights must enhance the attractiveness of the Christmas lantern); 30 percent for Craftsmanship (includes symmetry or due proportions of parts, strengths of structure, neatness of the work and conformity to the specifications) and 20 percent for Uniqueness (includes originality of concept and novel use of materials which may be indigenous, affordable and readily available in the locality) and 20 percent Message (the lantern must clearly carry the Christmas theme).
