Friday, February 22, 2008 Rosevale football festival gets bigger
AT LEAST 75 teams will see action in the 3rd Rosevale Cup Football Festival to be slated on February 23 at the Xavier Estates Football Field along the Airport Road.
Leading the cast are the 17 male booters from Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Musuan, Bukidnon.
The rest of last year's champions in their respective brackets such as the Ateneo de Davao University, Manolo United Football Club (under 12), CMU toddlers (under 10) and Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School of Camp Phillips are also joining.
Football teams from as far as Iligan, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Davao and Cebu will also be participating.
Last year's festival attracted a total of 58 teams compared with this year's 75 teams.
The annual football festival is in line with Rosevale School's "Go for ACE" (Academic and Character Excellence) battle cry, believing that holding sports activities could serve well as catalyst in molding the character of the youths.
First organized in 2006, the festival is geared towards fostering camaraderie and develop a tradition of athletic excellence among schools and clubs in Cagayan de Oro and nearby cities and towns.
It also aims to provide an opportunity for the young and budding athletes to develop their skills and encourage healthy competition.
