MAYOR Constantino G. Jaraula has reiterated that the 94-day extension of the deadline given to the contractor of the P49 million Telepono sa Barangay Project will end on April 17, 2008.
This is in response to an inquiry on the exact date of the extension of the deadline that the project contractor Supplier Contractor and Networking Telecommunications (Scantel) must carry out to finish the project.
In a letter dated February 28, 2008 addressed to Scantel president Francisco Z. Villapando, Jaraula emphasized to the company president that the agreement on the deadline's extension "reckoned from the day following our conference on January 14, 2008."
"Please be reminded that since the meeting was held on January 14, 2008, the 94-day completion period was supposed to have begun the following day January 15, 2008," Jaraula pointed out in the letter, which was signed by acting city administrator Griscelda M. Joson.
Jaraula agreed to the extension period in order to give ample time for the project contractor to fix the defects of the barangay telephone system project, which has not been fully operational since its implementation in 2003.
The rural telephone project is envisioned to serve the telecommunications need of the people in 17 hinterland barangays in the city. (Press release)
