Event organizer, Engineer Roger Golez Jr. said the tournament is aimed toward developing and strengthening the kiddies group in the locality, as well as to test the skills of COAA chess team (elementary level) for the upcoming Palarong Pampook.
Also, Golez said he's looking forward to come up with a list of aspiring kiddies for future chess training development program.

Thursday will be the five-round Swiss system elimination. The top-8 survivors will make it to the quarterfinals, then the top-4 semifinalists playing another knockout matches with 45 minutes time control.
The two finalists will dispute the P500 top purse plus trophy in a race-to-three showdown with the same active time.
Second, third and fourth placers will get P400, P300 and P200 each. While fifth to eight finishers will only be given a trophy. (LLS)
