Reasonable number of participants from different schools, college's, universities and even local artists attended the seminar-workshop.
Each day had its respective schedule of activity, for the first day the organizers had it scheduled for perspective and immersion.
One of the topics discussed was The Roots of Filipino Culture and their Significance in Filipino Festivals by keynote speaker Dr. Carmen Unabia, President, Bukidnon Girl Scouts Council Board.
There was then a discussion about festival planning and management and this was assigned to the two representatives from DOT and University of the Philippines and followed by an open forum.
Dance Movements and Choreography, Music, Production Design, Costumes and Props, Theater Arts Application came in next.
On the second day of the seminar-workshop, the participants were made to have a closer peek into two popular festivals here in Mindanao - Kaamulan Festival of Bukidnon and Lanzones Festival of Camiguin.
Chan explained that the workshop hopes to correct what cultural gurus brand as "bastardization" of the local culture as evident in inappropriate dance movements, choreography including the design of costumes and props in the local festivals held all over the region.
"We need to correct this festival bastardization as this may eventually lose our distinct and authentic cultural identity in the region," Chan said.
Academic institutions such as Xavier University, Lourdes College, Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro College, Liceo de Cagayan University, Mindanao Polytechnic State College, Pilgrim Christian College, Cagayan de Oro National High School and Lapasan National High School also attended the seminar-workshop.
