Saturday, April 19, 2008 Sun.Star goes Villa Arcadia By Mark D. Francisco
WE SUN.STAR Cagayan de Oro employees had the time of our lives recently when we visited Villa Arcadia in Talisayan in the western part of Misamis Oriental for three whole days.
Yes, it was a long enjoyable weekend indeed for us Sun.Star folks as the last day of our retreat there was a Monday, which happened to be a holiday.
Known as D'Rocky Tent City because of its rocky beach, Villa Arcadia is transformed into such a wonderful paradise that we really had a blast there.
Divine Providence timed our arrival to almost dusk already that we enjoyed tremendously the view of the Talisayan sunset as we settled down after a two-hour dizzying bus ride from Cagayan de Oro which gives you the feeling similar to that of jet lag.
In a lil' while, we had dinner courtesy of Villa Arcadia's hospitable owner Jimmy Trece which was a sumptuous enough banquet if you tell me.
After dinner, the ladies (SuperBalita's Jenefer Besere and Admin's Christine Cubillan, Candy Micabale and Sarah Villalobos) were already edgy to strip down to their bikinis and dip in the pool.
So there we were the guys (Admin's Brian Ong and me) graciously accompanying them and the pool itself was a sight.
The folks at Villa Arcadia had this idea to dim the lights by the poolside to give it a romantic atmosphere.
After the ladies finished their swimming, they were itching out to try some videoke.
Brian and I once again accompanied the ladies to the billiards area where the videoke system was set up, and in no time at all, the ladies started singing.
It was really a surprise to me as they had such lovely voices, Christine in particular belting out such classics as Karen White's Superwoman (I'm not your Superwoman I'm not the kind of girl that you can let down and think that everything's okay Boy I am only human) and LeAnn Rimes' Can't Fight the Moonlight (You can try to resist try to hide from my kiss but you know don't you know that you can't fight the moonlight no you can't fight it, it's gonna get to your heart).
When Christine belted out that number, it's as if she was Piper Perabo as the bartender in Coyote Ugly.
Then the night dragged on and I had to excuse myself to get some sleep as I had work the day after.
Of course, the ladies stayed there for two more nights and I'm pretty sure they all enjoyed it. Just look at the pix.
