THE PEARL2 Project of the Canadian International Development Agency (Cida) will again partner with the country's first Hall of Fame Most Outstanding Chamber of Commerce, the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) to fulfill its commitment to enhance the competitiveness of the country's small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
One of the SME-promotion activities under this partnership is the conduct of a seminar entitled, Regaining the Competitive Edge thru Improved Business Practices. This whole-day event is set today at the VIP Hotel, this city.
Among the topic highlights of the seminar include:
1. 3 Approaches to Improving Business Performance
2. Lean Manufacturing - Producing Value with Fewer Resources
3. How Gender Fair Practices Works
4. How Environment Practices Works
The SME sector is the strength of our economy, said Oro Chamber President Rudy Menes. He said that SMEs need all the assistance they can get to be able to maintain their existence and continue to generate the needed employment for many Filipinos.
"It is our hope that our SMEs in Cagayan de Oro City and even those located in the Misamis Oriental province will take full advantage of this rare opportunity where both Filipino and Canadian experts visit our area to share their expertise," Mr. Menes stated.
The battery of expert-speakers for Friday's seminar will be headed by PEARL2-Cida Project Director, Ed Sutherland.
The next joint-event will be a week-long trade exhibit in June in Cebu City which will showcase all products of local SMEs.
The Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages Project Phase 2 (Pearl2) is a private sector development project of Cida, managed by Agriteam Canada.
The goal of Pearl2, just like with Oro Chamber, is to contribute to the reduction of poverty in the Philippines through equitable and sustainable development.
