A Green Summer for Stephanie
By Mark D. Francisco

REMEMBER Miss Teen Philippines 2004 Stephanie Mae Sol? Of course, she is still buzzing around CdeO circles lately but right now, she's busy juggling between summer studies and being a teen environmentalist.

According to her mom, 18-year-old Steph still manages to lead and guest in various environment-related activities nationwide even though she's taking up grueling summer classes as an Industrial Economics student of University of Asia and the Pacific.

Steph herself admits that summer classes - especially when you're given up loads of assignments researching about the great philosopher Descartes - are challenging ones.

"The pressure is on. Time management, please guide me," Steph quips.

Despite that, the commercial model manages not just to be around during Earth Day and other related activities, she also puts up her very own show as a designer this time.

Dubbed as Torrid, the show at Dolce Superclub (Sct. Madrinan cor. Tomas Morato) features summer wear designed by Stephanie herself along with live performances by Metro Manila-based house DJs, dancers and bands.

Her mom also said that Stephanie was in Bacolod City last March 26 to grace World Water Day celebrations and on April 5 at La Castellana, Negros Occidental to be at the Philippine Banana Festival.

Earlier this summer, she also managed to come back here in her hometown to inspire upcoming models in a workshop organized by famed designer Benjie S. Manuel.

When I prodded her whether she would allow her daughter to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, her mother simply stated, "I want her to finish her studies first."

I rest my case.
