Friday, July 25, 2008 Sebastian is new RDC co-chair
BUSINESSMAN Arsenio Sebastian recently took his oath as co-chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC).
Appointed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself, Sebastian took his oath before Press Secretary Jesus Dureza during the forum on food and energy security at Grand Caprice Restaurant.
Sebastian is a certified public accountant (CPA), an accredited voluntary labor arbitrator, management consultant, and a Supreme Court (SC)-accredited mediator.
He is presently a member of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) of Northern Mindanao representing management, a management consultant of the Cagayan de Oro Polymedic General Hospital, Incorporated and an associate professor of Xavier University.
He has been with RDC-Northern Mindanao since 1988 and has served as RDC 10 vice chair for private sector representatives in 2001 to 2007.
Being one of the dynamic leaders in Northern Mindanao particularly as a member of the Infrastructure Monitoring and Advisory Group, he pushed for the realization of the Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT) and Laguindingan airport.
He has served as regional governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Northern Mindanao (1997 to 2006) and president of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Oro Chamber) in 1992.
He has also been a trustee of the Mindanao Business Council (MBC) and a private sector representative in the Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco) in 2004 to 2007.
Sebastian is likewise an active member and officer of Rotary International Cagayan de Oro City chapter.
He has gained various awards and recognitions such as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Cagayan de Oro in 2002 (by the Kagayha-an Jaycees), most outstanding Rotarian in 2002 to 2003 (by the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro), 1980 most outstanding president in the region (by the Philippine Jaycees) and distinguished service award (by the Oro Chamber).
