Saturday, August 02, 2008 Bongga-yan concert to be held
THE City Council on Monday is slated to enact an ordinance exempting the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) from the payment of the 30 percent amusement tax covering its sponsored concert Bongga-yan on August 27, 2008.
The concert will feature Manila-based artists, The Power learned.
Since the activity is already included in the official calendar of fiesta activities by Promote CDO Foundation, the ABC headed by Councilor Aaron Neri requested to avail the privilege provided under Ordinance No. 8838-2003.
The law grants exemption from the payment of the 30 percent amusement tax for activities held during the city fiesta celebration from August 1 to 31 each year.
Meanwhile, in another development, Councilor Alexander Dacer in his capacity as chair of the City Council committee on urban poor held a dialogue with members of Zone 1 Punta Bonbon Association to discuss their problems and concerns.
The dialogue was held in consonance with the City Planning and Development Office Estate Management Division through its chief Janet Deguinion.
Dacer noted the need for the filling of the area and said he will make the proper recommendations to alleviate their plight.
The committee has been visiting areas of landless associations to tackle their requests and to personally see their situation.
Dacer explained that in going to these areas, his committee is able to understand and act on their concerns. (Press release)
