Thursday, August 14, 2008 Miss Kagay-an 2008 candidate number 15 By Mark D. Francisco Lifestyle Editor
FRIENDS describe 20-year-old Ma. Jennifer Precious Gaston as sweet and simple.
Unassuming as that can be, Precious (known as Tootsie to close chums) belongs to the prominent Gaston and Sarraga clans in Cagayan de Oro. She's quick to point out though that her dad originates from Negros and is merely cousins with the Gastons in the city.
Of course, her dad married a Sarraga and the couple produced a very lovely and statuesque daughter.
Precious is a lady of many talents. Aside from being good in math (she's a Management Accounting graduate from Xavier University), she's also a ballet teacher, and a certified volleyball player.
Precious has been with the Grace Pointes in-house ballet troupe since her elementary days.
Miss Kagay-an 2008 is her initiation to beauty pageants but the members of the screening committee were quick to put her in the Lucky 15 slot because of her towering height and her natural poise and grace (being a ballet dancer).
"I really want to join and grab the opportunity to travel to Singapore," she quipped, the overseas trip being one of the prizes for the winning runner-up candidate.
She counts the following as her fave books: The Alchemist, By the River Piedra I Wept, Pride and Prejudice (both the novel and the movie), The Notebook (oh that undying Nicholas Sparks maestro!), among others.
Of course, as a dancer, she loves the movies Coyote Ugly, Honey, and Save the Last Dance, too.
