THE newest and latest massage retreat to hit our city is Hands-On Body Massage, a simple yet casual facility located at Belmont Building, 52nd Mastersons Avenue crossing Macanhan, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City which recently opened its doors only two weeks ago, on August 28th, our city's fiesta.
Hands & Body Massage Center is armed with 10 knowledgeable, young and youthful looking therapists (five female - Cathy, Kathy, Ivy, Jane and Tessie - and five male - Glendon, Donald, Solomon, Jestier and Juvenal). With more than 20 applicants, only 10 of them survived the three months strict and rigid training under the tutelage of Glendon Camerino, a professional therapist who has learned the trade and worked extensively in Manila (Shiatsu Filipino Spa in Mandaluyong) and Brunei!
Being referred to as "Kuya" by his fellow colleagues, Glen was my exceptional therapist for an hour and a half of terrific and relaxing Shiatsu-Swedish Japanese Massage. Each gliding and pressure stroke was truly soothing and calming to my sore and aching muscles using Eucalyptus Massage Oil. What was different from the others was the 10-minute amazing foot scrub at the start of the session, which I find pleasing and appealing. I was astounded of the experience and felt my feet to be a lot softer and smoother! (You see, I never had a foot scrub before!) The soft instrumental music of love songs being played added a sedative and reassuring effect on my mind, which was very pleasing and comforting. A choice of Iced Tea or Brewed Coffee was also offered to me after the session.
Their quality and superior services include Foot Massage with Foot Scrub (60 minutes for P250), Dry Massage, Foot Scrub with Mask Pack (70 minutes for P300) and Oil Massage, Foot Scrub with Mask Pack (70 minutes for P350). Mask Pack used is from Korea, so it is definitely gentle to our Asian skin and make-up. They also have several very reasonable packages that are sure to make you feel great while easing your tense body and muscles.
Why combination massage? It is because Shiatsu massage makes use of different pressure points of the body while Swedish massage uses oil for easy manipulation and application of the different gliding and circular strokes to penetrate the deep muscles for a better rubdown. In addition to the above, inclusion of Thai style stretches the aching muscles and joints for a more complete and thorough work-up!
The very gentle and friendly owner, Mr. Chang Kweon Noh, is from Korea but has been here for quite some time and speaks good English, which made it easier for both of us. The charming and sociable manager, Ms. Maria Theresa Grande, was very delightful to talk to. Together with Glen, Donald and Tessie, most of my issues were answered in a very polite and pleasant manner that definitely gave me a lot more insights on the aspects of massage therapy.
Hands-On Body Massage is increasingly getting popular to reflex/massage enthusiasts as evidenced by their increasing number of clients day after day. Satisfied clients have been seen to bring friends along when they return for another massage session recently.
