Friday, September 12, 2008 Cagayan de Oro Medical Center to mark 39th year
MINDANAO'S first private hospital, the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center, reaches yet another milestone as it turns 39 this Monday, September 15.
A thanksgiving mass will herald the hospital's anniversary, followed by a fellowship gathering of hospital staff where hardworking and loyal employees will be awarded, said Manny Gaerlan, the hospital's chief operating officer.
"We will be giving service and loyalty awards to the pioneers who have chosen to dedicate their lives in serving the hospital for so long now, including those who have distinguished themselves in their line of work," Mr. Gaerlan said.
A special dinner will be given to doctors the following day, in which their crucial role in the hospital's almost four decades of service will be recognized.
The Cagayan de Oro Medical Center traces its humble beginnings in 1968, when five pioneering physicians -- doctors Jose N. Gaerlan, Bob Neri, Zenaida Floirendo, Pete Mende and Santiago Mercado Jr. -- established their first clinic along Velez Street.
Thirty-nine years after, the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center today is an institution tested by time-offering the newest trend in medical services so that Kagay-anons and patients around the region don't have to go far for their health care needs.
Cagayan de Oro Medical Center is the only health care institution in the region that has its own Nuclear Medicine department, which offers cutting edge treatment and diagnostic tools for various diseases.
Indeed, the Cagayan de Oro Medical Center has gone a long way, and its dedicated staff and physicians have shown no signs of stopping to provide quality health care to Cagayan de Oro and the rest of Northern Mindanao. (Press release)
