Oro hosts 3-day film festival

CAGAYAN de Oro City is set to host for the first time the "Cine Europa 11" which will be staged at the Rodelsa Hall in Liceo de Cagayan University on October 3-5, 2008.

The Cine Europa 11, now on its 11th year in bringing excellent European films to the Philippines, will be brought in Cagayan de Oro in order to give Cagayanon audience the privilege to see excellent European films for free.

The three-day film festival "Cine Europa 11" aims to feature quality European movies to the Filipino audience as a way of sharing their diversity and uniqueness of their film culture.

Films about love, romance, hope, despair, laughter, struggles, survival and competition from 13 European countries such as Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will be featured during the film festival.

The Cine Europa 11, which started in 1998, remains to be a distinctive acknowledgement of the partnership of the European Community with the Philippines by way of sharing with the Filipino public the diversity and uniqueness of European film culture.

Screening time starts at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3; 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 4 and 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 5. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested moviegoers may get the free movie passes from The Office of Cultural and Public Affairs at Liceo de Cagayan University. (CIO/VYG)
