Saturday, October 04, 2008 Miñoza, Zubiri to grace Oro Chamber golf tourney By Lynde Salgados
SATURDAY'S culmination of the 2008 Oro Chamber Mayor Jaraula Cup Open Golf Tournament is expected to be "satisfaction guaranteed" with no less than the country's living legend in golf said to be re-assuring his presence at Pueblo de Oro Golf Course.
"Barring unforeseen glitches, Frankie Miñoza is coming in probably not as participant but as an iconic spectator cum supporter," said tournament chairman Noel Nalzaro.
Like Miñoza, who hails from the landlocked province of Bukidnon, youthful Senator Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri will also be on hand to grace this early morning's ceremonial tee-off alongside host Mayor Constantino "Tinnex" Jaraula and Representatives Rolando "Klarex" Uy and Rufus Rodriguez from the first and second districts of Cagayan de Oro.
Nalzaro, however, explained the ceremonial rites is just a formality since the annual Jaraula Cup being backstopped for the first time this year by the Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation had already started on Thursday.
Spicing up the three-day event, which has categories for Class A, Class B, Class C and Class D handicappers, are the eye-popping hole-in-one prizes for the Red Flag (P1-million cash), White Flag (one unit Kawasaki motorcycle) and Blue Flag (one unit HP Computer Laptop) all at stake in the par-3 holes.
Organizers are likewise confident the 2008 Jaraula Cup will break the 300 barrier list of participants in its final day of action.
