CAGAYAN de Oro Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula hailed the 17-man Cagayan de Oro City Basketball Team (Team CdeO) after bagging the championship crown of the Milo Best Mindanao Finals held over the weekend in Davao City.

The team's victory, according to Mayor Jaraula, is a manifestation of the sustainable implementation of the City Government's Advance Scientific Skills Efficiency Training (ASSET) in basketball.

Team CdeO basketball team captured the elusive title in the 14-years old and under category after dethroning the four-time defending champion Davao City with a nail-biting 86-83 victory over the host squad in the thrilling championship game.

As champions in the Milo's Best Mindanao leg, Cagayan de Oro City's basketball team, composed of the junior varsity team from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School who are ASSET products, will represent Mindanao in the National Finals to be held in Iloilo City on November 20-24, 2008.

With their feat, Dacoco thanked the support of the city government to the team through Mayor Jaraula, Vice Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, members of the City Council and secretary to the Mayor Rogelio "Jigs" Jaraula, Jr., who is the regional director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas in Northern Mindanao.

Team CdeO members are John Karlo Casiño, McJour Luib, Kim Jemerson Bucag, Aleksander Josef Neri, Edgar Allan Omila, Ivan Dave Villondo, Aegies Neri, Andro Cruise Catipay, Louis Paolo Macapayag, Rey Benedict Nambatac, Melvin Dacar, Edd Francis Gio Dou, Harvey Alvarez, Charvi Nemenzo and Phil Abejuela.
