RTA implements traffic-rerouting scheme
By Cong B. Corrales

TO PREVENT monstrous traffic jams around the cemeteries Saturday and Sunday, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) implemented a re-routing plan in preparation of the exodus visiting their departing loved ones.

Engineer Nonito Oclarit, acting RTA chief, said vehicles including trisikads are prohibited from entering the road leading to the City Public Cemetery in Bolonsori Road. Only vehicles owned by residents in the area are exempted from the ban, he said.

Oclarit said Camaman-an road and Hayes Street have been designated as one-way streets all the way to Carmelite Church.

He said they will strictly implement one-side parallel parking along Camaman-an Road and Hayes Street up to Bontong road area.

"There will be no parking, no loading and unloading for all types of vehicles on the approach of Camaman-an--Bolonsori road junction even up to 20 meters from the junction," Oclarit said.

To exit, Oclarit said vehicles will have to take the road leading to the Carmelite Church then turn left toward the Imburnal road and J.R. Borja extension.

Oclarit said they have designated areas for the loading and unloading of passengers of public utility vehicles servicing those who want to go to the City Public Cemetery.

He said for multicabs, areas for loading and unloading passengers will be at the Bolonsiri junction. Only three multicabs are allowed to unload and pick up passengers at a time, Oclarit said.

For motorelas, Oclarit said the designated area for loading and unloading will be along Camaman-an Road.

Greenhills Memorial Park

Oclarit said a strict one-way traffic will be enforced for those going to visit their dead in Greenhills Memorial Park in Barangay Bulua.

He said vehicles can enter the memorial park via the new Macapagal Drive from the national highway.

To exit, Oclarit said they will have to take the route that cuts through Terry Hills Subdivision and Aluba Subdivision then to the highway.

All jeepneys will be barred from entering except those who have franchise lines to Scions Subdivision, Mindanao Homes, Soldier's Hill and Barangay Canitoan.

Taxis are allowed to enter until the gates of Greenhills Memorial Park.

Oclarit said all vehicles will not be allowed to park on both sides of the highway and the road leading to Divine Shepherd Memorial Gardens.

He said parking is also not allowed for all types of vehicles on both sides along Masterson Avenue fronting the entrance gate of the Chinese Cemetery.

The traffic-rerouting plan was ordered by Mayor Constantino Jaraula who issued Executive Order 2008-CGJ-61.
