Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Inter-island vessels resume voyage By Annabelle L. Ricalde
INTER-ISLAND sea vessels plying the Camiguin-Balingoan route have already resumed operations Tuesday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Northern Mindanao said.
The vessels travel was suspended over the weekend due to heavy rains, big waves and poor visibility, said Lieutenant Commander Noel Torre, PCG's operations officer.
Among those restricted to leave port but were already allowed Tuesday were vessels leaving for Cebu, Manila and Bohol.
However, small fishing boats are still strongly advised not to enter the waters while the weather remains foul, Torre said.
Torre said fishermen who defy their warning can "navigate the water at their own risk."
He added that the resumption of any sea route does not mean it can't be cancelled anytime.
"We will cancel all sea-going routes in case we receive advisory from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warranting such order," Torre said.
Some flights at the Lumbia Airport were cancelled Tuesday morning due to zero visibility.
