RP traders invited to join Asean fair
FILIPINO businessmen are invited to join the Asean trade fair slated for October. In an interview, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Jose Ng said this fair was co-organized by all Asean member-countries, but it is hosted by Thailand. It will be held from Oct. 14-22.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) groups the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
Ng, who is also honorary trade representative of Thailand to the Philippines, said the Asean fair would be a “general fair,” which means the Philippines could even sell its tourism there.
“We are expecting about 700 exhibitors,” he told Sun.Star.
About 120,000 buyers from all over the world are also expected, he added. Ng also took the opportunity to report on the recent trade mission by Filipinos to Thailand.
“It was a very fruitful one. We were 19 in all,” he said.
Several businessmen were able to establish business contacts with Thai businessmen, and some in fact will already import some products from Thailand like snack foods and other processed food products, Ng revealed.
“One of our delegates in the kitchen equipment and food processing business is now seriously discussing business prospects with suppliers there,” he added.
Ng’s position as trade representative of Thailand to the Philippines is seen to create an improvement in the trade relations of the two countries. CTL |
