US sponsors grants for agri journalists

The United States Department of Agriculture (Usda) is accepting applications for travel grants to the United States.

Invited to avail themselves of the grant are Filipino agricultural journalists, writers and editors who focus on agriculture, the environment, science and biotechnology.

The travel grants are also open to academics and professionals working in the field of agricultural journalism and development communication.

It is for a two-week professional visit to the US and will involve orientation and training on agricultural research and biotechnology.

Grantees will visit US farm and agricultural research sites and universities hosting Fulbright agriculture scholars from the Philippines.

They will also meet with US officials engaged in policy oversight and administration of research.

Interested applicants should request application forms from the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (Paef) office at the 10th floor of the Ayala Life-FGU Center bldg. on 6811 Ayala ave., Makati city.

The forms may also be downloaded from the Paef website, www.paef.org.ph. Deadline for submission of applications is on July 8.
