Security guard shoots himself
By Rene H. Martel

A “DEPRESSED” security guard decided he had enough of life and shot himself in the head with his service revolver in Cabantan st., Barangay Luz, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Wilhelm Gonzales, 29, stay-in security guard of Y and C Warehouse, was lying face up and lifeless when responding homicide policemen arrived in the area.

Warehouse workers said Gonzales, who was connected with Reliable and Industrial Security Agency, has been acting strangely the past few days.

SPO1 Dennis Moga Jr., homicide team leader, said Gonzales was often seen “talking to himself” that warehouse workers became afraid of him.

Moga said Gonzales was depressed and was particularly complaining about the delay of his wage and the failure of his fellow guard to come on time during change of shifts.

Luis Carampatana, 51, stay-in company driver, and Jennifer Cańares, 18, stay-in utility worker, provided police the information.

The two told Moga and his team that around 6 a.m., Gonzales arrived at the warehouse and got his service .38 revolver from its locker.

He then picked a spot near the warehouse, pointed the gun at the right side of his head, and pulled the trigger several times.

“The witnesses were about 50 meters away. They were afraid to approach because he might shoot them also.” Moga said.
