Garcia scored for endorsing Calderon for prov’l SK post
By Jeanette P. Malinao

CEBU Gov. Pablo Garcia’s favorable pronouncements for Alayon Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) bet Ramon Martin Calderon will “discourage” Lakas members from joining the SK Federation race for the Provincial Board (PB) ex-officio seat.

Former congressman Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr. believes Garcia should gather Lakas leaders and discuss choosing a candidate for the SK Federation provincial election.

But Garcia said there’s “no more time” to do that. Besides, Calderon’s family has started early in their campaign.

Calderon’s uncle, Sam-boan Mayor Peter John Calde-ron, has even invited SK chairpersons from Cebu’s towns to a gathering this Sunday.

Garcia said he has been asking Lakas mayors who visit his office if they have a candidate for the SK Federation election on Sept. 1, but none came up with a name.

Anyone who wants to vie for the SK Provincial Federation presidency must come out in the open now, he said.

The governor earlier said Calderon, whom he described as the front-unner in the SK elections, might turn out to be unopposed and a “common candidate” because of his unification efforts.
