Name-calling leads Lubas member to murder By Minerva B. Gerodias
FURIOUS after he was teased as being “putot” (short), a member of the Lungsod Batok Salaud (Lubas) shot the 60-year-old father of the boy who failed to tell him the names of his taunters.
Vivencio Juanillo was declared dead on arrival at Cebu City Memorial Medical Center (CCMC) while Lubas member Eleazar Planza is in critical condition after Juanillo’s neighbors mauled him.
In another incident, a member of the PRO 7 band may face a case of physical injury after he allegedly shot the left arm of his wife’s nephew in Ermita, Cebu City yesterday dawn.
SPO4 Roy Boltron might also charge Lloyd Felina, 22, with grave threats.
Boltron has been disarmed and will be investigated by Regional Internal Affairs Services (RIAS), but he will still be the band’s chief clerk.
Confrontation
In the first incident, Vivencio’s 12-year-old son, Joven, in his affidavit, said he went to Waterfront Police Station around 6:30 p.m. to see a neighbor who was arrested for snatching.
Planza suddenly approached and forced him to tell the names of those who teased him.
A group of youngsters shouted at Planza and challenged him to a fistfight.
Planza allegedly collared Joven so he struggled and ran towards his house along Arellano Blvd.
He told his father about what happened and a few minutes later, Planza arrived.
Vivencio came out and confronted Planza, but the latter suddenly grabbed a gun and shot Vivencio in the chest.
Vivencio ran, but Planza chased him and shot him again, but he missed.
PO1 Roderick Prancia of Carbon police who happened to be eating dinner in the area responded to the alarm and arrested Planza.
But before he could bring Planza to the police station, a group of bystanders and neighbors of the Vivencios mauled him.
Prancia pacified the commotion and brought Planza to the hospital.
Aside from bruises, Planza suffered a head wound that may have been caused by a wood with a nail on it.
Stinking pig
In Ermita, Boltron allegedly got mad after his neighbor and also his wife’s nephew, Feliña, shouted at them saying “Bahoa anang inyong baboy uy!” (Your hog stinks!)
SPO1 Bobby Escarlan of the homicide police said Feliña lives across the house of Boltron and at 4:50 a.m. yesterday, Feliña allegedly shouted at Boltron’s wife who was feeding the pigs.
Feliña, who went to the homicide police to report the matter, alleged that he was staying on their terrace at the second floor when Boltron suddenly came out and fired his gun upwards hitting him in the arm. A portion of their glass window was also broken.
But Escarlan said Boltron has another version of the story.
“He saw the victim on the terrace aiming a gun at him, that’s why he fired at him,” Escarlan said.
Boltron will file grave threat charges against Feliña who denied he had a firearm.
